Time and time again, I find that dining establishments in Fort Collins set up shop in the most obscure of places. Most surprising are those that are on the north end of town--surprising in the sense that they crank out unique grub but also in the ability to keep food cheap. Backporch offers ample seating and a menu that can satisfy any palate. For starters, the cinnamon roll incites memories of the yeasty, glutenous character from growing up. Next, you would do well to move onto the breakfast burrito. A homemade jalapeno cheddar tortilla rounds out the "artisan bakery" experience. I must comment on the egg quality. If you want to gauge the consistency of a restaurant, keep an eye on the eggs. Over-easy and poached make great metrics. The OE they pump out here definitely meet par, perhaps under (assuming over-par is a bad thing). The grub stands alone here, without any fussiness.

The food was on point, I would have been 5 stars but the service when arriving was non existant.

My family and I always enjoy coming here for breakfast. The food is great! Very accommodating with kids. Excellent Huevos, sausage and gravy and love the green chili!

Even though it was well into the 90's I sat outside to eat, and it was a very pleasant experience. The umbrellas on the tables were adequately sized to create an oasis of shade along with the relaxing water feature near by. The service was incredible as Aaron took the order and the food appeared in such a short time. I had the veggie omelette with an iced latte and side of bacon. It came with potatoes and I ordered the English muffin (but you could have ordered a freshly baked muffin for an additional cost...which I am wondering if I should have?) It was all so delicious and not heavy at all. Portions were large for me so I have a snack for later. :) What a nice place to enjoy good food while also relaxing and taking in the great Colorado outsides!

Very friendly staff and the best biscuits and gravy I have ever had. Oh, and bacon Bloody Mary's.

Great brunch and atmosphere! I met a girlfriend there for brunch a few Sundays ago and we ate outside in the patio/garden area. The wait staff was a bit curt and aloof but that didn't bother me as I was there to enjoy my meal and the company of my friend. I had the Eggs Benedict and I tried the Manmosa. I could do without the Manmosa and my meal was tasty and satisfying.

Slow, kind of dirty. And just mediocre at best. Pretty cool patio potential and good looking bloody's. Scrambled eggs were more like an empty omelette.

On the corner of am intersection near an industrial/commercial area. Our party sat on the back porch and it was delightful. Good servers and great customer service. Standard American fair with some tex-mex options. Desserts looked yummy but we didn't try any. Not a lot of seating inside and the building is very narrow so plan to bump in to people occasionally.

I have driven by this place many times just to see tons of cars and people waiting outside, and I kept on driving. I hate waiting, and there is always one waiting for you here. I had some friends in town however who did not mind waiting, so they convinced me to wait the 25 minutes to get breakfast. When we finally got in, the server was very friendly even if he was a bit ditzy. I was craving some biscuits and gravy however they were sadly out of gravy, which between the wait and that, is why they primarily are 3 stars rather than 4. I instead got a churizo burrito, with potato added. The server told me that churizo was their best meat, though I found it a bit dry for my taste. The cost was on par with all the other breakfast joints around town, a bit high, but still cheaper than Denver breakfast places. The ambiance is nice here, but it's definitely better if you get an outside seat on a nice morning/afternoon. The location is a bit of a hassle as well since it is on the edge of town, but it is not too bad. I will definitely give it another chance, but only if I drive by and there is no real wait... So it may be a while from now...

LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE. This is my new favorite place for breakfast in FC. Service: These people are awesome. We came Sunday morning. It was busy. But everyone was really friendly and helpful and definitely hustled, which I always appreciate. No one was just standing around. They were helping make sure we were all on the list. Kept letting us know how much longer it'd be. It was great. When we were at our table, other waiters would check in on us to make sure we were doing OK even though we weren't their table. And our waiter did a great job even though we were his only table in our section (which makes it difficult to see us and make sure we have our water, coffee, etc.). Food: Holy yum. They make just about everything in house. I had the chorizo omlette. The chorizo is housemade, their eggs are real (thank God) and the pork chili verde was spot on. Tastes just like I had it growing up. My mom ordered eggs benedict (it's not on the menu but they make it) and loved it. Eggs were cooked perfectly (nothing makes me madder than an over-poached egg). Hollandaise was homemade. The canadian bacon was a nice, thick cut. And the English muffin was so thick and about the size of a saucer. They were HUGE! The potatoes were OK. And the fruit cup was surprisingly good -- all the fruit was ripe! Drinks: Mom and I both got the standard bloody mary's. They were delicious -- be careful if you don't like spicy though. They've got a kick. They also offer them with a double pour (DP), which is a good idea. And in addition to mimosas they have manmosas (wheat beer with orange juice). Prices: Can't be beat. For good, homemade food everything was surprisingly low. Atmosphere: Inside it's like a small house. So cute. And they're a great outdoor seating area I'm looking forward to sitting at once it warms up. Everything is clean. Their waiting area is a little tight when it's cold outside but they have as many chairs as possible in there and work hard to get you seated asap. If you're worried about a wait, call ahead for reservations. I heard them taking some. It's nothing fancy but everything good there can be about breakfast. We'll be back.

Such a cool spot! I took a customer for a breakfast meeting. We took advantage of the front porch and had great service. A local gem, for sure. Go with the chorizo. It was delicious and the portions are BIG. Go hungry. Leave happy.

This place is pretty good. It has a really nice patio with great outdoor seating, which is probably amazing in warmer weather. We were seated pretty quickly despite it being crowded. The staff were very attentive and friendly, and the service was fast! I had a Belgian waffle with strawberries on top, and it was good. My boyfriend had the Huevos Rancheros and was pleased with it. Overall we had a good experience; I'm only giving three stars because we have had better breakfasts for around the same price range.

GREEN CHILI SURE TO MAKE YOU ORGASM! Are you kidding me? I was looking to have breakfast in a cute lil place, NOT FALL IN LOVE! All I gotta say is damn the pulled pork breakfast burrito was perfect. Everyone knows those breakfast burritos that come smothered in green chili. They're served all over Colorado. THIS ISNT ONE OF THOSE ORDINARY BURRITOS! The contents were so perfectly arranged together. And that green chili.... Ohhhh baby let me soak in A TUB OF THAT CHILI BABY. Garlic, yer damn straight. But not overwhelming, rather complimenting every other ingredient to that masterpiece of a burrito. I was aroused.

This is a great place to eat. Can't think of a negative thing to say about it. The staff is friendly and helpful, the menu is great and the food is very good. Look forward to eating there again.

They don't take reservations on the weekend or on a holiday. Except that they do for some people. They don't seat incomplete parties, except that they do for some people. Their wushu-washy policies are incredibly frustrating. It's a crappy way to run a business.

  • Shannon H.

I wanted to like this place. It was open and unpretentious. Smelled great when we got there and it was quite crowded, which can sometimes be an indicator of quality. I ordered the meat lover's omelet which came with potatoes. Its was alright. Nothing wrong, but nothing special. The wheat bread was quite good and the meat inside the eggs was good quality, but the texture of the eggs reminded me of eggbeaters or something from IHOP, which I think is generic and doesn't resemble actual eggs. The potatoes were pretty bad. Seemed like freezer section potato fries but in little cubes. No flavor. Ordered a side of avocado which was relatively substantial. Coffee was pretty okay and service was nice but spotty. Not sure that I would go back unfortunately.

Not a bad spot at all. The wait is long, just like every other breakfast cafe. But we got some mimosas (and beermosas) to make the time pass. There were some unique items on the menu but most things were pretty standard. Also, there are no pancakes here. I was disappointed as I like to try all the fun pancakes these kinds of places come up with. I had a chorizo burrito which was very good. The casidillas my friends ordered were also tasty and the salsa that came with them was top notch. I also really liked the habanero hot sauce that sits on each table. The service was great. Prompt, fast, accurate. Loved that. This is a good spot.

I came here with a friend that bought a Groupon based on the reviews. I must say it was pretty mediocre. Service was so-so. While we waited to get on the list to be seated, 4 different wait staff passed us without any acknowledgement. The 5th person finally said "sorry for the wait; someone will be right with you". The things is, the wait staff seemed to be very busy doing not much of anything, as they were huddled in a corner talking. Food: Nothing to rave about. I had the veggie omelet. It was good, but nothing I would go back for. The veggies were diced and seemingly sautéed, which I appreciated. It was served with potatoes and toast. I was disappointed that they did not offer non-pork breakfast meat except for tempeh. I found this disappointing, as most breakfast/brunch places in Ft. Collins at least have a chicken sausage or turkey bacon. Drinks: I ordered the Bloody Mary. It's presentation was better than its taste. I was pretty disappointed and didn't finish it, and I'm never a fan of wasting alcohol. It reminded me of the Bloody Mary mix I've had on a flight on Southwest Airlines. Overall I'm not quite sure why folks seem to love this place. I've definitely had better breakfast in Old Town.

Tried the Back Porch for the first time recently. It was ok. The staff were super friendly and responsive, which was great. But the food seemed a little bland to me, especially the biscuits and gravy and potatoes. Please consider spicing it up a bit!

My 5yo daughter & I came here for brunch while little brother had some ski lessons from daddy. She asked to try a new place. And she wanted fruit. So brunch it is! Pros: * gluten-free bread available * happily made my daughter a virgin mimosa so we could * daughter said French toast was better than daddy's * able to buy a groupon while waiting for a table * kids French toast comes with LOTS of fruit. Just what she wanted! * plenty of parking * quaint decor & atmosphere. Plenty of space between tables. Cons: * potato salad was bland * burger was over-cooked (well done instead of medium). It could also use more seasoning. * over 10min just to get water/drink order * lacks indoor waiting area * hostess was standoffish. It was super busy but still, friendliness goes a long way

I'm honestly a bit shocked at all the high reviews for this place. Yes, the outside seating has great ambiance... And friendly servers... But the breakfast? Bland. I had a veggie omelette and my coworker had a basic breakfast of eggs and bacon. Neither of us cared too much for our meals, so we ordered a cinnamon roll to balance it out. Nothing spectacular there, either. With all of the amazing breakfast spots Fort Collins has to offer, I can confidently say that the Back Porch is not on my list of places I want to visit again. Again, nothing terribly wrong, but nothing great either.

Best breakfast in Fort Collins! Love eating outside and I have at least four favorite breakfasts choices. Fabulous homemade green chili. The fresh baked bread is amazing. And you can't find a better Bloody Mary anywhere!! Go sit on the porch!

This is a charming little place with a lovely outdoor area not exactly manicured exterior, but quaint. The indies is a bit bland but comfortable. The service was brisk-- frustrated permanently in college almost 30 guy who waxed on about frontal lobe development and how you can change your own DNA -odd , but what do you expect Ina college town? It's the food that was a bit of a let down. I had the chorizo burrito smothered with green chill it was amazingly non- dis riot and bland. What a shame my wife's meal was also a snore bore, except for the homemade toast which was excellent. It's the kind of place you want to love, but with so many great options in here The Fort, I won't be back.

Excellent Service! Tasty menu and comfortable! Note all burritos have eggs- and someone in my party does not like eggs- so when the burrito came out- there were eggs but our server was so excellent. He apologized for not clarifying that and quickly went and had a correct one made fresh. selection of egg dishes-soups-sandwiches and more here! Our server was helpful in making recommendations based on your tastebuds- spicy- small appetite etc. Alll drinks were kept filled. Service was just so good here- pleasant-happy and attentive! Had a homemade cup of soup-with beef and carrots which was welcome after the Thanksgiving Holiday_ Have pies by the slice as well! Would highly recommend for fresh, homemade food, and excellent service! On warmer days the outside dining looked very inviting! Concerned the reason I have not stopped in the past was the hours- they close at 2pm... maybe staying open a tad longer on select days would be helpful. Will definitely return!

I must say, that every time I go there, there is ALWAYS a wait, and it is ALWAYS worth it! Such good food! Cozy, little atmosphere. (I mean it's literally in a house) and their drinks are pretty darn good as well! I always tend to order the juevos rancheros which always satisfies! I happened to get a bloody mary last time I was there, and though it wasn't spicy enough for my taste, with a little tabasco addiction, it was definitely on point! This is a place that you will always run into someone you know from around town every weekend. Like I said, it's a great little restaurant, and though it may feel cramped, I believe that's a huge part to the great feeling of cozyness you get when inside! Oh and P.S. - their patio is definitely a GREAT hangout during the summer! Just wish it was closer to my side of town!

This restaurant is located in a beautiful, scenic part of Fort Collins and features outdoor seating overlooking the picturesque city. Unfortunately, however, it seems that The Backporch Cafe figures that a nice location is all it takes to make a diner's experience unforgettable. Therefore, their food is average at best- they do not embrace seasonings whatsoever- I had the veggie egg white omelet served with potatoes which were the blandest I have ever tasted. My boyfriend ordered a smothered breakfast burrito which just seemed like a bad recipe overall- the chicken inside did not even taste like chicken, more like turkey, and was served with unseasoned and undercooked hashed browns accompanied by a sauce that simply did not pair well with the other ingredients. The lattes were okay, the service was good and they had an amazing selection of hot sauce. So there were definitely positives. If you are a diner whose experience can be completely made by your eating environment alone, go for it.

I've never had a bad meal here and the service is always outstanding! The food is nothing fancy or over the top, but it is definitely delicious and the portions are fit to share. Their in-house smoked meats are awesome and their breakfast cocktails are fantastic, too. Home cookin' and you don't have to do the dishes!

I am giving this place five stars for their service and their salads. Go here, get any of the salads, and sit outside and enjoy every second of it. The ambiance is lovely-- relaxed and peaceful. If you can, get seating by their little pond/water area. Highly recommend eating here for lunch. They serve breakfast too, and I've heard that's delicious as well, but I haven't made it there for that yet.

This was my first time eating at back porch. This is a popular place! It was packed but we only had to wait about fifteen minutes before being seated. The food was absolutely phenomenal. You can tell that everything is made from scratch. The quality of the food was great and it was very quick service. I loved the green chili in particular. The staff is very quirky, fun, and helpful.

Wonderful location for brunch especially in a sunny day sitting on the deck enjoying the sunshine and overseeing the golf course. Plates are large and full of ingredients. My husband had a burrito packed with 3 eggs, sausages and plenty other meats smothered with cheese. I enjoyed a 3 egg omelette with sausage, bacon and ham and plenty of vegetables accompanied by roasted potatoes and toast. The plates are big but delicious and after a half marathon, I didn't feel too guilty for eating it all. Plenty of healthier options too and you can substitute fruit for any part of the dish

This was my first time eating here. I had heard read some good reviews and people had told me that I needed to try it. We had tried saying here before but the wait was always long and no one ever greeted us last time we were there so we left. We waited about 30 minutes for breakfast this time. We got seated in a crowded room. The table was awkwardly long. It was extremely loud and the tables around us were larger groups and rude. The food was ok. The hollandaise was bland, and the food didn't have much flavor. Fairly standard breakfast menu.

We drove through Fort Collins today, heading to Denver from Wyoming. We found this place on yelp and were a little unsure, but it was an easy drive off the highway so we went for it. I'm so glad we did. We had the French toast and the Belgium waffle, and of course bacon. All were terrific. Also, the patio was very relaxing with the water feature and every staff member we came in contact with was very pleasant.

Great service and a great patio!!! Jordan was our server and she was on top of everything! We had the breakfast burrito with chorizo and the biscuits and gravy! We will be back for sure! My husband and I just moved to Fort Collins and this was our best restaurant experience yet!

I love this place, alway good service and delicious food. The staff does a good job of making guests feel welcome. If you're on the fence about eating here, get off that fence and dive in, you won't be disappointed! Let me share my most recent experience. (It also includes suggestion for improvement if management is reading this). This morning I decided to meet a good friend for a late breakfast. This place is extremely busy every weekend, so I knew there would be a wait. After getting my name on the list it came to my attention that I no longer had the extra time for breakfast. So I walked inside to remove my name from the waiting list. After doing so I made it to the parking lot where I was stopped by one of the employees. He said "hey is everything alright?", I then explained to him my unfortunate timing situation. To which he informed me that he did not want me leaving hungry. So he offered me a muffin and coffee to go. Not only do they treat you well when you're seated, but they also look out for you if you lose track of time and have to leave with out a meal in your belly. Just goes to show that they care about their customers! Oh my suggestion.... On nice busy summer days, you guys should move the hostess table out side so people aren't standing in the way of your busy staff. The staff is polite about it, but you can see on their faces it makes their job more difficult.

A recently purchased Groupon brought my husband and I here. I ordered the egg scramble and added the green chili sauce as well as avocado. They definitely added more flavor. Food was average and prices were reasonable. The service was excellent. We'll probably be back once the weather is nice so we can enjoy brunch on their large patio!

Saturday mid-morning hunger consumed us and, therefore, prevented us from waiting in those ridiculously long lines at the usual breakfast haunts around Old Town. What to do? Find something else and oh boy, were we glad we did! Surprisingly larger than how it appears from the front of this house-like establishment, we anticipated our 15 minute wait would be more like 30. With coffee mugs in hand ($2.25 each), we waited outside on this unseasonably warm January morning. Lo and behold, 10 minutes into our wait, a table is ready and we're hunkered down with warm coffee refills and menu in hand. What to do? What? Backporch smokes their own meats? What? Pork green chili as a brekky option? So many savory breakfast items on the menu that are perfect for me and my (vegetarian) dining companion. With everything being homemade, I toyed with the eggs benedict but really, really, REALLY wanted the green chili. Our waiter suggested ordering the benedict and with potatoes smothered in green chili, but I couldn't pass up the house smoked meat, so I went with the pork breakfast burrito smothered in green chili. A burrito the size of my head ($9.75 plus $1.75), the Sombrero brekky burro was exactly what this lady needed. My dining companion's huevos rancheros ($9.75 sub green chili with tempeh and topped with fresh sliced avocado) looked just as delicious. We powered through our meals like a couple of corn-fed farm boys ready to tackle a day on a combine. Who can pass up fresh baked goods? Took the giant cinnamon rolls to go ($3.25 each). As we secret ate our rolls in the car, we wished we had a backseat microwave to heat it up. I'll pass on the rolls in the future, but maybe they're better dine-in. Overall, I really liked my first experience at Backporch. Funny, friendly waitstaff. Filling, tasty breakfast. Backporch is a repeater for me and my pal on our next stint in Fort Collins.

Backporch Cafe has many options for the Fort Collins foodie. I went for lunch and was surprised that they had both a breakfast and lunch menu available. Whether you want an omelette, breakfast burrito, salad or sandwich, this place has it all. In addition to options, the service is fast and friendly. There aren't great restaurant options in this specific area (most are breweries with no food or fast food) but this is a great choice if you're on this side of Fort Collins.

Nice location. Friendly service. Lot's of locals and regulars. Homemade bread is excellent and my wife loved her slice of quiche. I had the 2 eggs and bacon and the potatoes were dry, the bacon overcooked and both were cold and served on a chipped pate. So, you know, kind of a mixed bag.

We stopped in for breakfast and sat on the patio. NO PANCAKES? What? I settled for a side order of french toast, but was disappointed to find out that they didn't offer real maple syrup. I don't mind paying extra - I want the real thing, please! Our "Sombrero" breakfast burrito was tasty, but a bit dry. It needed the chili sauce which was an additional $1.75. I appreciate that they have a "sides" menu, because I can never make up my mind and prefer to nibble on a variety of things. The atmosphere was very nice; they have a beautiful fountain and many plants to distract you from the fact that you are at the corner of two relatively busy streets. Our server was efficient and polite - she didn't linger or want to be our new best friend.

Bar none, the best brunch place in town. Excellent service and great food. The smoked chicken is amazing. Sub it for the fried on the BPC crispy at lunch or get the Dan Pat at breakfast and you won't be disappointed. There is usually a wait on weekends, but the patio makes it enjoyable. Solid experience every single time we go. We love this place!

I found this place via one of my FAVorite apps, Urbanspoon, as I was passing through town on a roadtrip. It was hard to find even WITH a Garmin because the location could (and probably has in it's past) serve as someone's place of residence. This means parking is limited and so is table space. But that's part of the allure of Backporch Cafe, it's like inviting yourself to your cooler-than-you friend's place for a gourmet breakfast. And in true Colorado style they'll even have a beer (or mimosa for the faint at heart) waiting for you to start the day off right. Broken down into simple terms: Dare-you-to-eat-the-whole-thing portions, fresh ingredients, fairly limited cuisine but what they do, they do very very well! To top it off, Backporch Cafe makes breakfast cuisine + full beer selection seem natural.

This is really good place for a unique breakfast burrito or B&G. All top quality food prepared so that it would be impossible to complain about much. The location is great as it sits right on the corner of Lincoln and Lemay - a stone's throw from Fort Collins Brewery, not to mention O'Dells just a little further down. Turning into the place to park can get a little tricky if turning in off Lemay. But once you're there tucked away in the midst of tall trees you'll find a great and quaint wood finished indoor seating area with a fireplace. And on warmer days you can sit outside amongst those trees on wrought iron chairs, very cool! Staff is knowledgable about the place's history while being quick, cute and kind. Highly recommended, the food is fantastic!

The Backporch Cafe is one of my favorite places in Fort Collins for a delicious breakfast. Big helpings for a reasonable price, friendly service, good coffee, and a lovely garden in which to sit - what more could you want? Well...I wish their breakfast potatoes were as good as the rest of their food - then they would earn five stars from me. Last weekend I had a chorizo & cheese omelet topped with their amazing green pork chili, while my husband had his usual two smoked pork chops with two eggs over medium. Instead of their ho-hum potatoes, we got the fresh fruit cup. With coffee and tip, total bill was around $25.

Soooo... just flew into Denver From Chicago with three friends and rented a car to start a kick ass road trip. The first place we stop to eat was The Backporch Cafe, and it was just by chance. This place rocks! Location- Right off a golf course and main road with mt. view. The outdoor seating had a real chill relaxed vibe. Service- BEST WAITER IN THE WORLD!!!!!!!! Dude was super cool...told us some stories about road trips he's been on and places he'd seen. He knew a ton about the local beer and beer in general, and let us sample some beer on the house, and gave us a cinnamon roll and three bottles of the house made hot sauce to take with us. Who does that? Awesome! Food- Fantastic! Everything we ordered was hot and fresh. Omelet's there are amazing! Just enough food to fill you up. Bloody Mary was also fan..f'n..tastic. It came with a slice of bacon. If you are in Fort Collins you must stop for breakfast or lunch. I think they close at 2. KCCO

Where were you 5 star reviews eating? 5 stars, really? It is nowhere close to your reviews. Wow! Unprofessional in service (left waiting and inattentive to needs, refills, high chair...smile people...it's your job) food quality was poor (crappy coffee, stale rolls, average, underwhelming entrees) and you could hear the wait staff complaining in the other rooms. We have eaten here on three separate occasions ordering different every time in hopes of providing support to local vendors. I think three tries with some 8 entrees is better than you fly-by one timers. What are you seeing? It is sad when you leave and say, that was a mistake. Without improvement, we will have to visit other establishments and so should you.

So I've just woken up from a brunch-induced food coma, and I have to say ... how is it that I've lived in Fort Collins for so long and am just now getting around to discovering this place? A friend learned about BPC through a Living Social Deal and suggested we come here for a belated birthday brunch. I'm so glad she did. There's nothing too terribly fancy-schmantzy on the menu, but what they do serve comes in hearty portions and is executed extremely well. On the recommendation of one of the servers, I ordered the biscuit breakfast -- a biscuit with sausage gravy, two eggs any style, potatoes, and choice of meat. A ridiculous amount of food came out, and the guy who brought out our dishes wished me luck in finishing it all. He was not kidding -- I couldn't quite finish, but gave it my best effort. The biscuit and gravy was exceptional -- the biscuit had the lightest texture imaginable and the gravy was thick and creamy and yummy with sausage flavor. The potatoes were crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. My sunnyside-up eggs were perfectly cooked, and the side of bacon turned out to be a decadent serving of 4 strips. My friend had the veggie omelet, which came with the potatoes and a huge hunk of bread/toast -- she declared herself similarly stuffed at the end of the meal. The one downside -- this is a very popular place on the weekends. I had to stalk people coming out to get a parking spot and there was a considerable wait for a table. I didn't mind so much since I consider Sunday brunch to be a leisurely meal & it just gave my friend and I more time to catch up. This location is a bit off-the-beaten-path for me, but is near the local breweries so would be a great place to start off the day if you are in town to do the grand tour of craft beers.

Loved the food, staff and atmosphere! They seated us 4 adults, 2 kids in their stone house, which was charming and perfect for our crew. Will be back when we are in town.

I have to say, the out side atmosphere in the right weather is pretty hard to beat for a breakfast experience. Food is a solid and consistent 6 out if 10, service is always good if a bit frantic. Best for social groupings with friends or family.

The possibilities for this place to rock is really up there. The atmosphere is fun and the pie is some of the best I've ever had. When it is crowded, plan to starve, not wait. A few more servers would be a great idea when things get busy, like say a 5k going on in town... I say give this place a try for breakfast!!!

The food is usually pretty good! I like the choices and the atmosphere! The sad thing about this place is the service it is so slow. Be prepared to wait.

This was the third time I was disappointed with the food and service here. Brunch today all sounded very good, but only after we finished bussing our own table so we could eat did we get to sit and eat. Also, the food looked good but out of the 9 meals only 1 was served close to hot. The "re-heated" food was just barely above the temperature we sent it back for. Food looked good but three times of so-so food and I think I will take my business elsewhere.

Loved this place last time I was in Fort Collins, but was not satisfied with my recent experience. Brunch took 2.5 hours and everyone's food was very cold. We sent the food back and it still came back cold. Sadly, I don't think I will return to backpoarch.

It's alright, not great. But good. On weekends when everywhere else is packed, this is a safe bet.

Best breakfast joint in Fort Collins! Great bloody marys, mimosas, and man-mosas which are wheat beer and oj. I have had a lot of different items on the menu and have never been disappointed, my wife shares the same thoughts as well. If the weather is nice sitting on the patio is awesome, the atmosphere is pretty good as well!

#1- we had the best staff helping us! So friendly, making suggestions and going out if their way to be helpful. Food was delish! Was our first time so asked the waiter and got suggestions. He was more than happy to talk with us and didn't make us feel like we were a bother. Can't wait to go back again!

Great brunch place in Fort Collins. It was a nice Spring day and we sat out on the patio. Seating inside is limited so I can see how in the Winter you might have a wait if you roll in mid morning. Food was good, not stellar. I'd go back again.

The Back Porch was a great choice for the first pleasant Spring afternoon we've had in a long while. Patio seating was available, but we chose to sit indoors. The menu had nice selections. The bread tasted homemade and the salads were fresh. If we went earlier we could have sampled the breakfast menu, which looked great too. I recommend this place if you're in Ft. Collins. The seating was quick and the servers were very nice.

This place is always packed so i gave it two tries. Food was terrible both times, extremely dry omelet one time and a bland egg salad sandwich the other. I do not think the chefs are allowed to use salt. Service is not the friendliest either. This place received one star because the orange juice in the mimosas was fresh squeezed.

Had breakfast here on a weekday - it was very quiet and relaxing. My mom comes relatively regularly and says the staff is always friendly and has low turnover. I ordered strawberry rhubard pie. mmmm Good stuff. Usually I'm more verbose with my reviews but I'm cutting this one short. Don't take that to mean I didn't enjoy this place, cause I sure did.

Likely my fav breakfast place in Fort Collins. No long lines when I went and the food was amazing. There will be lines at this place soon.

Had a party of 9 to celebrate a 90th birthday party. Requested a table for 9 + a high chair, never got the high chair. They put us in the side cabin -- "stone house" I think they called it. The privacy was nice, the flies weren't. We had to request a couple of fly swatters, and probably took care of about 15-20 flies. We arrived at 11:30, and it took me talking to 3 different people and 30 minutes to even get menus. At 12:05, I asked the hostess if we were going to receive service, and she handed me 9 menus to take out to our table myself. The food was really slow to arrive, about 45 minutes (for breakfast food????), and mediocre in quality/taste. Our waitress forgot my coffee initially, and then brought out carafes of water/coffee, which to me is a signal of laziness or an understaffed establishment. When our food came out, they forgot the biscuits and gravy for my niece, and it took 10 minutes for them to retrieve it. Ever get the feeling like you're on an island of rejects at a restaurant? The reason I'm giving this place 2 stars instead of 1, is that we weren't in a rush. We enjoyed the 2.5 hours it took us to have brunch because we were with family and had great conversations. That said, the overall review of this place is one of disappointment. We won't be back.

I went here again last week. I got some of their pie which simply off the charts for awesome! It was an apple walnut pie. It wasn't too sweet and had a an appealing amount of tartness to it. The crust was done to perfection. I think I could eat a whole pie if they are all like this here!

Met friends today for the first visit to The Back Porch Cafe. Great choice and will defintely return. We all ordered breakfast...huge portions, lots of condiment choices, service was excellent. Worth a first, fifth, tenth visit and beyond.

Great homey spot with food that tastes homemade We ate a late lunch there on a Saturday and service was attentive. I has the smoked chicken wrap sandwich with a creamy potato salad side. The chicken was full of flavor (smoked on site.). Love that they serve local Horsetooth hot sauce and Odell's. Definitely good food.

I absolutely love this little place. The service is always great...and the food is fresh and tasty. I have already made this one of the must experience restaurants when friends and family visit. If you want a great tasting breakfast or pie...you have to try this place!

On a recent trip to Fort Collins, my husband and I stopped in for breakfast at the Backporch on a weekday morning. We had our choice of table as the cafe was nearly empty due to our timing and chose a table near the fireplace. The friendly and funny waiter took our order in a timely manner. My husband had the belgian waffle with strawberries and banana cream along with coffee. I had eggs and sausage, and hot chocolate. The waffle had good texture and was delicious. Though my husband thought the banana cream was a bit too sweet, he still enjoyed his breakfast. My eggs were cooked over medium just as I had requested. The large sausage patty was homemade, hand-formed and well-seasoned. Their breakfast potatoes are some of the best I have had in restaurants. They have crunch on the exterior but tender in the middle. My wheat toast was homemade bread and hand sliced. Service was attentive, and my husband's coffee was never empty. I am most impressed with numerous offerings of homemade items and very reasonable menu prices. We had a wonderful experience here and can't wait to return again. P.S. While we did not try the "manmosa," oj and beer on this trip, my husband really appreciates the male-friendly alternative to the mimosa.

Yum! This place reminds me of some of the little cafes in the Bay Area. The menu had a lot of options, including veggie (the sandwiches could be chicken breast, turkey burgers or tempeh burgers). There were also a variety of wraps, a few quesadillas and lot of other things I can't remember. =) They also had a lot of delicious looking desserts that I stared at longingly but didn't eat. I got the black and bleu turkey buger (black pepper and bleu cheese) and it was delicious. It was also a surprisingly reasonable size, which was good since I couldn't stop eating it. I asked the waitress for a recommendation of fries versus chips. She suggested the fries because they have a ranch dressing topping. They were okay but if the chips are made in house, I'll try those next time. Definitely going back! Note: Not good for large groups, they had trouble seating four of us at 12:30 on a Thursday.

I can't believe I didn't find this gem sooner. I had the egg scramble and had to add a homemade cinnamon roll, and oh goodness...was it delicious. The food came out very fast and our waiter was funny and on top of everything. I will go back many many times. This has to be one of the best kept secrets in northern colo.

Nice location, butted up against a golf course, with a great patio. The inside also has a nice ambiance. The food is excellent, I recommend the breakfast burrito with buffalo chicken. Sounds weird but it was good. Great place, next time I have guests from out of town I'm planning on bringing them here.

Not a disappointment! Wholesome, clean, friendly and down-home. The "Scrambler" was similar to what I'd make at home. I would have liked to have the potatoes a bit more seasoned, but that's me being picky. If I was a local this would be a routine breakfast stop.

For some reason, I love baking more than cooking. Maybe it's because my baked goods are sugary, sinful treats - cupcakes with butter cream frosting, glazed pumpkin bars (I will never divulge this super secret recipe), tarts, pies, cookies - pretty much all of the foods I tell my personal training clients to stay away from. In fact, that is often the joke in sessions - a personal trainer who bakes well is creating job stability. So, as a pretty decent baker, I really appreciate restaurants that bake from scratch and who do it well. The Back Porch Cafe is one of those places. Not only do they have delicious baked goods, but a quaint atmosphere to enjoy them in. We've been to the Back Porch countless times. When we first moved to Fort Collins, it seemed like we were there every week because it was my Mother-in-law's favorite place to eat. We ate there so often during her visits that whenever the question of where to eat came up, my husband and I would turn to each other and say "Oh, wait. Let me guess. The Back Porch." We left the Back Porch feeling full of a devilishly delicious breakfast. Fresh, home-made food, friendly service and with my husband and I asking each other why we don't come here more often. Especially in the summer when you can sit out on the beautiful garden patio. Maybe my Mother-in-law is on to something when she requests to go to the Back Porch Every. Single. Visit.

I've heard great things about this place. My boyfriend and I decided to try it this last Saturday for breakfast. The atmosphere and location are wonderful - love the outdoor seating. Our waiter was excellent. He ordered the chorizo omelet, I ordered the huevos rancheros. The pork green chile was quite possibly some of the worst I've ever tasted. The pork was ground (who uses ground pork in green chile??). The chile tasted like garlic - and more garlic - and nothing but garlic. Although it looked like they were using fresh peppers, I couldn't taste them due to the overwhelming garlic. Did I mention there was too much garlic in the green chile? Despite my disappointing breakfast, I will try this place again, in hopes that I can give it a better rating. In theory, the menu looks great. But I would stay away from the garlicky, ground pork green chile.

Great local place Local coffee. that being said i would give it 4/5 for my dish 2/5 for my wifes dish and a 1/5 for service. i would understand if it was busy when we went, but it was slow, us and another table of 4, so there was really no reason for us to not get our coffee refilled or to speak our minds about the missing toast. Biscuit breakfast was really good. im not one to go with biscuits and gravy, but i did so on the recommendation of our waitress. the gravy was thick and creamy, the biscuits were soft and amazing. aside from that i had bacon, eggs and was supposed to have gotten cheese sourdough toast but they forgot, and after dropping off the meal, we didnt see her again until we got the check. Chorizo omelette is what my wife got and was less than satisfied with her choice. i had a few bites as well and i would have to agree. to me it tasted like lean ground beef with taco packet seasoning on it. very dry and powderedly tasting seasoning. all this being said, i would give this place another try, as the servers could have been having crummy days and my meal was overall pretty well done, just slipped on the chorizo and the service.

A group of friends and I went here during a weekday lunch. The place is pretty small, so there were no tables available (it was our first time so we didn't know what to expect). We waited for about 5 minutes and someone let us know we could sit at the "bar" to eat if we wanted. Had it been nicer, we would have loved to eat outside, but it was a bit chilly. The "bar" is right near where the cooks are, so we enjoyed some friendly chat with them. The cooks and the servers were all very friendly. I ordered a sandwich and fries, and most of my friends opted for breakfast items. The food was delicious! All of the food my friend's ordered looked great too, and I wish I could have tried everything on their menu. I have yet to go back there, but plan to go back again soon to try something new!

I am not a very big fan of breakfast foods. I don't like getting up early and that may have some effect on my distaste for all things morning, but Back Porch Cafe has made me enjoy breakfast again. I have been there multiple times, eating several different orders and have truly enjoyed every meal placed before me. I wholeheartedly recommend the blueberry stuffed french toast. My dining partners love the eggs Benedict. Every time I eat at Back Porch the wait staff is very attentive and good, but very quirky and fun as well. Another bonus is that they have a very good lunch menu (that is if you are not a breakfast person like me).

LOVE this place. Best Hollaindaise sauce I've ever have, and the half order of biscuits and gravy is enough to put me into a food coma. Great atmosphere, the service is always great and everything we've tried has been fabulous.

This place was a usual hang out when I had a couple buddies that lived in Ft Collins. It used to be really great food. Not so much anymore. The food didn't taste as fresh as I remembered. The bloddies were good but we won't need to return anytime soon.
